Dax began a new job with the Strokes along with a romantic relationship with Leslie.  Among all this change came a handful of surprises.  The Strokes have a secret department hidden in the basement – with electricity! – and her job was to assist in analyzing the stash of System devices stored there.  Meanwhile, her new coworkers Al and Tazina worked to restore 216894.

When the project was completed, 216894 revealed something extraordinary: the System bombings were being conducted by Outcasts… and the Strokes knew nothing about it.  Later, it’s found out that the ones responsible were a collection of individuals known as anti-bytes.  The Strokes organization became committed to tracking down and punishing these System bombers.

Not long after, Dax noticed Leslie was deeply troubled.  She waited for them to confide in her, but as time passed, she realized Leslie wouldn’t do so on their own.  So, one night during dinner, Dax asked Leslie what has bothering them for so long.

Leslie revealed that the mayor had decided to allow only one last chance to defeat the System by sending a Strokes agent inside for one year.  Whether it’s a success or a failure, the work against the System would end after mission completion.  But that’s not what had been bothering Leslie the whole time.  Leslie’s problem was that they needed to find the perfect agent: a former byte who can blend into System life and knows what they can get away with.

As Leslie walked from the kitchen to the table, glass in hand, Dax spoke up and said she would perform the mission.  The glass slipped from Leslie's hand and crashed to the floor.
